Busy day..... Dehydrating and Juicing

I cut up an enormous sweet potato from our bountiful basket.
Seriously, I wish I had a pic.
It was as big as my face.
Dehydrated that  along with about 20 or so tomatoes.
We love sundries tomatoes.
Sweet potatoes-we're not so sure yet.  I like them, but they are a little hard to eat.  Very hard actually.
Next to e I will try to cut even thinner.
I guess that's why people buy mandolins?

Juicing news....   Jimmy and I are both down to one a day for now.
I used my purple kale, parsley, a pound of carrots (minus one we had for lunch), 3 apples, and two oranges.
Tastes good to me.

Last, is my sweet baby girl.  She was so stoic and cuddly.
Her 2 bottom  teeth are about to pop through.
I wish they would.
Teething is such a pain.
She does love the catnip tincture I made to help, though.
Recipe for that to come.....

Juice fast day 2

Here's our juice for tomorrow.....
Yes, that is one big nasty beet and the tops being used.   Blech!
     One romaine heart
The other 1/2 of our container of spinach
      One lb. bag of carrots
      One lemon
      Three apples
      One inch of ginger
      1/2 of that beautiful pineapple

Verdict?    Jimmy tried a shot warm.   You can definitely detect the beet but the pineapple is so delicious that it is bearable.  I was advised to only use 1/2 a beet next time.
I don't know how we'll ever eat through thos 5 million beets I have!

If you are following along, comment and let us know how it's going a d what your favorite recipe is!

In dehydrator news, here's what I've done....
Salad savoy    -     Decent.   I will probably be the only one to snack on them but they are ok
Beets   -    Really gross.  I had high hopes for dipping chips, but the flavor is SO intense.
( I actually threw the out before taking a pic)
Watermelon    -  very sweet, Lexi liked, Dylan didn't
Bananas     -  more chewy than ones I've bought before - Lexi isn't a fan
(but she doesn't love them fresh either), Dylan liked
        Strawberries     -   delicious!
        Apples    -   delicious!

Jimmy's juice fast day 1

So, we've had many many questions about what to put in your juice.
We've tried many many many recipes and we never really love them.
The best luck we have is when we just throw in whatever is laying around.
We follow a couple rules.....
          Lots and lots of green.
At least 70% has to be veggies.
VARIETY.  Don't get stuck using the same old things.   Try new things and mix it up.
For now, because I'm nursing Lexi, I'll just be drinking a juice in the afternoon as an added boost to my day.   I will be trying to make enough for Jimmy to dring a fresh one for breakfast and dinner.   When he's at school he will supplement with the NAKED juice brand Green Machine.
Here's our juicer....

We absolutely love it.   Gets all the juice out and can handle just about everything.
I will be soon testing a recipe for crackers using the leftover pulp.   We'll see how that goes!
Here's what we've juiced tonight....
1/2 a container of spinach
Some leftover romaine hearts
1/2 a bunch of parsley
1pound pack of carrots plus a couple more I had leftover
About 4 or 5 radishes
1 lemon
1 lime
1 inch or so of ginger
2 oranges
3 apples

Jimmy says its not bad - pretty sweet.
All juices are definitely better on ice.
